🥭 International Mango Day Excursion: A Sweet Success! 🥭
On International Mango Day, our students from grades VI-VIII enjoyed an enriching and fun-filled visit to the local mango farm in Melseval, Tirunelveli. The one-day trip was packed with activities, learning opportunities, and delicious treats that left everyone with a greater appreciation for this delightful fruit.
The day began with a guided tour of the mango farm. Students walked among the lush trees, marveling at the varieties of mangoes growing all around them. They learned about the different types of mangoes, their growth cycles, and how they are harvested.
A highlight of the visit was an insightful lecture by Dr. Murgasan, a retired professor in Agricultural Entomology. He spoke about the various insects found on mango trees and their impact on the fruit. The students were fascinated and eagerly asked many questions about mango cultivation.
After the lecture, the students channeled their creativity by drawing and painting 3D figures of mangoes. These colorful artworks were later hung around the farm, adding a festive touch to the surroundings.
The day ended on a delicious note with a feast of various cuisines made from both raw and ripe mangoes. There was tangy mango salad, spicy pickles, sweet mango desserts, and refreshing mango beverages.
Special thanks to Mr. Natarajan, the owner of the mango farm, for making the wonderful arrangements. The one-day trip was a perfect blend of learning and fun, celebrating the king of fruits in all its glory. 🌟
