Rovers of Thamirabarani
“Water is life’s matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water”.
Natural resources are very precious and valuable to all living beings. In MPS we have a team of enthusiasts who enjoy and love learning about all the natural resources.
On 03-03-2023 our team of students jointly with ‘Rovers of Thamirabarani ‘ visited Punnakayal. It is a harbor village in Tamil Nadu, India. The Neithal landscapes symbolizes the life of fisherfolk, the nets and boats drawn up on the beach, sculpting crabs and the odour of dry fish.
Our students visited the Neithal Landscape to explore the major habitats namely:
(a) Saltpans – Shallow human-made ponds designed to produce salt from seawater.
(b) Mangroves – A group of trees and shrubs that live in the coastal intertidal zone.
(c) Seashore – An area of sandy, stony, or rocky land bordering and level with the sea.
(d) The sea – A portion of the ocean that is partly surrounded by land.
Mr. Raju famous as Uncle Raju schooled our students how living organisms thrive near the ocean beds. Our students started the magical water journey of our perennial river Thamirabarani’ from the starting point to the end of where it meets the ocean, Gulf of Mannar. Students were introduced to the local cuisines and also learned about the different life species present near the wetlands.
Each and every moment was thoroughly enjoyed by our students.
