Celebrating World Environment Day with Action! "Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience" “Be the Change – Embrace sustainability”
On Environment Day, a significant initiative was undertaken to clean and rejuvenate the local pond in Moorthy Nainar Kulam at V.M. Chathram. This effort aimed not only to restore the Ecological Balance of the pond but also to raise awareness among the residents about the importance of maintaining natural water bodies.
The Drive was a collaborative effort involving Volunteers from EFI (Environmentalist Foundation of India, Chennai) and students of MPS under the guidance of Mr. Maharaja, Project manager, EFI. They removed the pollutants to restore the natural habitat for Aquatic Life.Volunteers removed garbage, plastic, and other waste materials from the pond.
But their efforts didn't stop there! Our students also took the opportunity to engage with the local residents, spreading vital awareness about the importance of keeping our environment clean. They emphasized the message: "Don't pollute the pond and don't allow others to pollute."
Students imbibed community spirit and collaboration towards a common goal. The pond cleaning drive on Environment Day was a remarkable success demonstrating the power of community action and the importance of environment conservation. Together, we can make a difference.
